Last year, ALSEACE 2008 was the first time de la costa meet Edwin Dirgantara. And here was the time when he was starting to be our official coach. Everything was started from here. Every moments, every laughs, so did every tears.
Edwin taught us about lots of things. He made change to betterment towards de la costa. He taught how to make cases, rebuttals, and how to deliver speech with an excellent manner (even i still can't do it perfectly). He taught how important are assertion to structurize our speech and what so ever about debate.
He was really patient in coaching us. He was never upset even most of the time we were really really annoying and slapdash.When he was being so serious coaching us, we were being so unserious by joking or doing others trivial thing. Whereas he had sacrificed his time for coming to our school. But seems we never respect him by being so unserious. And now we really know that it oftenly made him dissapointed by our imbecility. But he was never upset at least showing her anger to us. He was so patient facing and coaching us.
He was so sinsible teaching us about anything, not only about debating stuffs but also about life. He often talked about it. He taught us how to respect success, how to thank for everything we had. Cuz like what he said " What comes up will comes down, what comes down will comes up " we will never feel how pleasant is the success if we never felt how bitter is the failure. It was really inspiring us to not be that easy to give up. Cuz he convinced us that everything has it's own proper time and the time will comes up when we never predict it before.
Well we realized that he took really big contribution towards our betterment. KOMPEK10, ALSA, schoolympic were the result of his big dedication as a coach. His criticisms were really developing us in to this betterment.Even sometimes it was really bitter, but actually it was proven that these are the thing made us could making it. Without his existence I believe that we could not get even better.
He ever told us that he was our bad luck. Because we often stucked in second place . Like what happened in KOMPEK10, ALSA 2008, ALSEACE 2008. But we believe that actually he was not our bad luck. He was our luckiness. Because we were such lucky having him as our coach. Not only as coach actually, but also as friend, brother, and uncle(hehehe).
But nothing lasts forever, right? He has life. He has his own priority. Unfortunately it is not de la costa. Of course. He really needs to chase his career as he has just graduated from STAN. It takes almost of his time and makes him unable to be de la costa's coach for any longer. He has choice. That's the thing. It's the fact we have to face. Losing the best coach ever. But we realized that it is the best way for both us and him. Cuz we don't want to burden him more and more by being so possesive.
Yesterday, after ALSEACE 2009, a year he has being our coach, we were having farewell party with him. It signed that he officially isn't our coach any longer. Well.. good bye Edwin. We are going to miss your slapsticks, spoofs, and jokes. We will never forget a year moments with you. And we wish you all the best for your life.
